Unfortunately, the PS4 only supports PlayStation VR. The other VR headsets do not work, including the Oculus series. Nothing will happen when you connect your Oculus to the PS4.

Oculus VR headset even better for PlayStation games

The PSVR headset was released in 2016, and by this time it is already outdated. Many modern virtual reality headsets, including Oculus Quest 2, are far superior to PlayStation VR headset and provide a better gaming experience in VR games.

How do I connect Oculus 2 to PS4?

Even though you can connect your Oculus Quest headset to your PC to play PC VR games, you still want to play some PS4 games. Even though you can't connect your Oculus Quest directly to your PS4, you can still use some workarounds to play PSVR games with your Oculus Quest.

We've prepared some tips for you on how to use your Oculus Quest with your PS4, but the question is, are you willing to put some effort into installing everything you need? If so, then we are getting started.

First step: Activate developer mode

You must activate developer mode in Oculus Quest in order to import the APK from your PC.

To activate developer mode, you must register your Oculus account as a business or organization. Once you do this, your profile will be considered a developer profile, allowing you to install the APKs to your Quest account.

Second step: Install Google Chrome on your Oculus Quest

Google Chrome allows you to connect to your PlayStation Network account through your browser. Using the built-in Oculus Quest browser, you will face log in problems into your PSN account, which require Google Chrome.

Use PS Remote Play App

PS Remote Play app gives you the possibility to control your PS4 from your Android mobile device. You can install “PS Remote Play” on your Oculus Quest headset and use it as a “mobile” device.

Here's what you need:

  • SideQuest

  • Oculus link cable

  • PS Remote Play

First, download the free SideQuest app to your PC. This program allows you to install games and Android APKs on your Quest headset. Then, using this program, sideload PS Remote Play Android app on your Oculus.

Then go to your PS4 settings and in the “Remote Play Connection Settings” add Sidequest as a device. You also must enable the remote play option.

When you launch the app, you will be prompted to register your PSN profile, which is required to access the URL using Google Chrome. On your PlayStation, sign in with your exact PSN account.

Once connected, you will be able to see the PS4 interface window on your Oculus Quest. Now you can use the Remote Play feature to play your favorite games.

Use PS Remote Play on PC through the Virtual Desktop app

This is not the perfect option because it involves two layers of streaming through two devices (first from PS4 to PC, then from PC to Oculus), so there is likely to be a slight delay.

Here's what you need:

  • PS Remote Play

  • Virtual Desktop

First, you need to install the PS Remote Play on your PC to stream the game from your PS4 to your PC. Then install the Virtual Desktop app on your PC and Oculus and play.

Keep in mind, that Virtual Desktop program costs $20.

Use Chiaki app

The process of playing through Chiaki is similar to PS Remote Play. You still need SideQuest to install it. First, you install SideQuest on your PC, then you install Chiaki on your Oculus.

This way of playing is suitable for those who have problems with the official PS Remote Play.

Use PS Emulator

There is an app known as “ePSXe for Android” in the Android store. This emulator allows you to run PS software on your Oculus even without PS4.

This app costs $3.75 at the Google Play Store.

Here's what you need:

  • Bugjaeger

  • Apk Extractor

  • ePSXe for Android

Find and safely download an emulated version of the game you want to play on your Quest 2. It is crucial that the game is downloaded as a “.cue” file.

Connect your Quest 2 to your Android phone, then launch the Bugjaeger app. Install the .apk file of the emulator onto your Oculus. Go to the “Files” menu in the Bugjaeger app and find the location where you want to download the game.

After installation, you must turn off your Oculus. Then turn on the VR headset and on the home screen of your Oculus, click on “Applications” and then on “Unknown Sources.” Select the “ePSXe emulator” file.

After that, you can play PS4 games without using the console itself.

Not surprisingly, demand for Oculus Quest is growing rapidly due to its ability to provide a wide range of immersive gaming experiences. Oculus VR headsets are very user-friendly and top quality.

And thanks to their open and flexible system, these VR headsets allow you to work around almost any problem if you put a little effort into it.
